Feature Animal
Yellow-banded Clubtail
Merogomphus femoralis
A spectacular dragonfly answering to the description of this species has been seen twice in the Central Nature Reserves, in 2007 and 2008. Merogomphus femoralis is otherwise known only from a single specimen collected more than 80 years ago in Peninsula Malaysia, so the identification still has to be confirmed. It is a big dragonfly, frequenting the forest and forest edge. Since it is such a rarity, it has to be considered critically endangered, at least until we know more about it.
